The Marilla Town Board will hold a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, before the regular board meeting on a local law to amend the zoning maps to correct mistakes and bring them up to date on changes. The board is expected to vote on the law after the hearing.

Mistakes include 125 acres owned jointly by Earl Gingerich Jr., Marilla’s town supervisor, and Earl Gingerich Sr. which are labeled R for residential which should be labeled A for agriculture, and a proposed change of 23 acres owned by Leon Berner on Clinton Street which were supposed to be rezoned from Agriculture to Business.

Late last year, the board did approve a resolution, completed the state environmental quality review and held a public hearing on making the zoning changes but, for unknown reasons, never approved a local law required as part of the change.

Supervisor Gingerich Jr. said at the work session Tuesday he had no idea why it was not rezoned as requested and cannot find any paper work on it.
