A 66-year-old Marilla man was arrested on an aggravated driving while intoxicated count after he collided with another vehicle Monday afternoon on Four Rod Road near Clinton Street in Marilla and then fled, Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard said.
Investigators said John E. Young was driving with a blood alcohol content level more than three times the legal limit when was stopped on Jamison Road in the vicinity of Creek Road in Elma by Deputy Tim Higgins. The deputy had spotted Young driving in the opposite direction as he was responding to the accident just before 1 p.m., authorities said, adding that there were no injuries.
After failing several field sobriety tests, Young submitted to a chemical test and his blood alcohol content was determined to be at 0.26 percent.
Young was also charged with making an improper turn and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. A court date has not yet been scheduled.
