Two people were shot during a robbery attempt late Friday afternoon in the city’s East Amherst-Bailey area, Northeast District police reported Saturday.
LamarrWilkinson told police he was walking east on Thornton Avenue at about 5:40 p.m., when a man approached him, demanded money and started shooting, striking him in the groin. Wilkinson was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he later was treated and released.
A second person was struck in the right arm while standing in front of a Thornton Avenue residence. The incident occurred just west of Bailey Avenue, one block south of East Amherst Street.
The would-be robber, who fled east on Thornton, got no money, and police managed to recover some physical evidence at the scene.
