Two men were involved in two violent incidents on the East Side Wednesday, police said. Donald Patterson, 30, and Aaron Smith, 22, each attacked the other at some point in the evening, and both wound up requiring treatment at Erie County Medical Center, according to police.
First, at 7:25 p.m., Patterson reported to police that while he was walking to a store on Genesee Street and Goodyear Avenue, Smith approached him and struck him in the back of the head with a brick, knocking him to the ground. Patterson told police he was then hit with a 4 x 4 and passed out before being treated at ECMC.
Then, at 9 p.m., Smith reported to police that he was hit in the back with a bottle. He said Patterson stabbed him in the left side of his neck with the bottle. An unknown male transported Smith to ECMC, where he was treated for stab wounds to the neck and left shoulder.
Neither Smith, of the 500 block of Goodyear, nor Patterson, of the 100 block of Zenner Street, has been charged.
