An early-morning house fire today in the Bailey Kensington neighborhood caused $45,000 damage and left two adults and three children in need of assistance from the Red Cross, fire officials said.

The fire started at 6:36 a.m. in a second-floor ceiling at the wood-frame, two-story residence at 101 Poultney Ave., according to firefighters. A cause for the fire remains under investigation.
