A Buffalo man imprisoned for breaking into an East Side home with a crowbar in September and using it to beat the homeowner has been charged with fatally shooting a man last May outside a bar.
Edmund Bowie, 35, of Curry Walk, pleaded not guilty Friday in Erie County Court to second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in the May 12, 2013, slaying of Dwon House, 37, of Spring Street, outside Dinny’s Bar at 372 William St. Police said the shooting followed an argument.
Bowie was sentenced March 3 to five years in prison by State Supreme Court Justice Deborah Haendiges after pleading guilty to burglary, assault and weapon charges in the Sept. 18 break-in on Proctor Avenue, off Bailey Avenue. He also has a previous conviction for attempted assault.
In 2012, Bowie was acquitted by an Erie County Court jury in a violent gunpoint home invasion on the East Side involving three intruders who terrorized a businessman and his family until they revealed where cash was hidden. Two other defendants were convicted.
