A worker was injured this morning after being struck by a steel beam on a construction site at the corner of Delaware Avenue and West Chippewa Street, said a representative of the Uniland Development Co.
The accident was reported at 8:11 a.m. at 250 Delaware Ave., the future site of the new Delaware North Co. offices, according to the Buffalo Fire Department alarm office.
The injured worked was identified as an employee of Seneca Steel Erectors, Inc., according to a statement released this morning by Uniland. The worker was assisting with unloading material at the construction site when he was apparently struck by a steel beam, the statement confirmed.
Rural Metro transported one person to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.
The identity of the victim and the nature of the injury could not be determined.
Work continued at the site throughout the morning.
An updated statement is expected later today from Uniland.
