Depew village officials heard an earful from two residents of Autumn Lea Road about noise levels outside Wolcott Guns indoor shooting range on Walden Avenue.
One resident told the Village Board last week that neighbors want the village to change its code, saying that the firing noises were louder than planes and trains in the area. Neighbors, who have submitted a petition, said there are 200 homes in the area.
But lawmakers insist the business, at 3052 Walden, is not out of compliance with the village’s noise ordinance. Officials said decibel readings, done last fall, showed the business had not exceeded the limitations, and also noted that its owner has been working hard to lower any noise from the range.
“We’re not changing (the code) for five to 10 homes,” Mayor Steven Hoffman said.
