The Depew High School will offer an Academy of Finance to freshmen students in September.
As a result, it is looking for business partners to provide real-world experiences for the participating students.
The academy concept is a school-within-a-school approach to education with a focus on a specific academic discipline. The academy would introduce students to career opportunities in the financial services industry through a hands-on business curriculum. Through participation in a rigorous and relevant business curriculum, students gain self-confidence while learning skills used in businesses.
Involvement from business professionals provides students with the skills, concepts and work experiences to bridge classroom work with career learning.
The school’s academy is looking for business professionals and community leaders who can provide internship placements and leads, job shadowing opportunities, classroom speakers, scholarships, portfolio reviews, mock interviews, academy trips/site visits and workshops.
Those able to help the academy are asked to contact academy Director Eileen Cartonia at firstname.lastname@example.org or to call 686-5065, ext. 4243.
