Depew parents soon will have a new method by which to track their children’s school performance.

In the spring, Depew Schools will roll out the DataCation Dashboard, allowing parents access to student data and resources at the state level.

DataCation is part of the EngageNY Portal run by the state Education Department at The district will have free access to the data for two years, as part of the Race to the Top educational grant.

“Currently, students and their families do not have the ability to review a student’s complete educational record by the state,” Superintendent Jeffrey Rabey said. “The EngageNY portal will provide students and their families with the ability to review this statewide information and ensure its accuracy.”

Data will be double-encrypted, and parents will be assigned personal identification numbers in order to access their children’s information, Rabey said.
