A St. Patrick’s party to raise funds to help children from Northern Ireland visit Western New York will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 7 in the Hearthstone Manor, 333 Dick Road, Depew.
The event will be the Amherst Gaelic League’s 42nd annual Irish-American Appreciation Party. It will benefit the Belfast Summer Relief Program, which has helped more than 1,600 Irish children travel to Western New York for six-week visits with local host families.
Richard J. “Dick” Gallagher, who helped thousands of local young people deal with drug problems through his work with the Kids Escaping Drugs and Renaissance Campus programs, will be honored as the league’s 2014 Irishman of the year. Gallagher is the retired executive director of Alcohol & Drug Dependency Services Inc.
Tickets are $30 presale or $35 at the door. The event – billed as the region’s biggest St. Patrick’s Day party – features live Irish music and dancers. Tickets are available from Chris Flynn at (716) 913-7827, or firstname.lastname@example.org, or Dennis Lennon at (716) 213-3546 or email@example.com.
