BELMONT – A 26-year-old Cuba man was arrested and jailed Wednesday on an indictment warrant charging him with illegal narcotics sales in the Town of Friendship, including two recent incidents in which an undercover agent of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit bought from him two hits of morphine.
Albert O. Rhodes was taken into custody by Allegany County sheriff’s deputies, according to Sheriff Ricky L. Whitney.
He was remanded to the county jail here pending further court proceedings linked to a grand jury indictment on two counts each of criminal possession and sale of controlled substances in the third-degree, each of which carries prison terms of up to 25 years upon conviction.
The sheriff’s Narcotics Unit was assisted in the arrest by uniformed sheriff deputies and officers of the Cuba Police Department. Whitney said anyone with information about illegal drug sales is asked to contact his Narcotics Unit hotline at 585-268-9782. He said all calls are strictly confidential.
