From his dorm room at Houghton College, Jesse Adams exploited young girls.

He distributed child pornography from his computer, and met at least four underaged girls online whom he tried to coerce into posing nude for him.

Two of them, a 14-year-old and 15-year-old, sent him photos.

A federal judge on Tuesday sentenced Adams, 27, to 12 years in prison.

“He took advantage of and exploited these girls for his own sexual gratification,” said Assistant U.S. Attorney Carol G. Bridge. “This is a case of not just possessing or looking at child pornography but of reaching out to these troubled young girls.”

Adams, a South Dakota resident, was attending Houghton in Allegany County at the time of his arrest last year on child pornography charges.

He eventually pleaded guilty to distribution of child porn as part of a plea deal in which he also admitted soliciting pornographic images of four underaged girls he met on a website.

“He didn’t post them. He didn’t share them,” Federal Public Defender Marianne Mariano said. “The images aren’t out there in cyberspace.”
