A federal judge has dismissed an Allegany County man’s claims that he owns part of Facebook.
U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara adopted the recommendations of another judge in ruling against Paul Ceglia of Wellsville.
In his recommendations to Arcara, U.S. Magistrate Judge Leslie G. Foschio found that Ceglia’s purported contract with Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg is a “recently created fabrication.”
Filed in 2010, Ceglia’s civil suit was based on his contention that he and Zuckerberg signed the contract in 2003.
Facebook acknowledges Zuckerberg signed a contract with Ceglia while a student at Harvard University, but the social media giant contends it had nothing to do with Facebook.
It’s not certain if Ceglia will appeal Arcara’s ruling.
