Maintenance and repair work will close down runways overnight for the next three weeks at Buffalo Niagara International Airport, starting today, the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority reported.
The airport’s main runway will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. today through Sept. 6. During those hours, all commercial flights and cargo operations will use the airport’s alternate, or crosswind, runway, resulting in different flight patterns than usual.
Starting Sept. 7, both runways will be closed to all aviation from 10:45 p.m. to 6 a.m. for 10 nights so that repairs can be made at the intersection of the two runways.
Operations are expected to return to normal Sept. 18.
