Kevin Williams, associate professor in the Earth Sciences and Science Education Department of SUNY Buffalo State, will speak on, “Unraveling the Geologic History of Mars,” at 7 p.m. Jan. 22 in the auditorium of the Gateway Executive Office, 3556 Lake Shore Road, Blasdell.

Williams’ talk will present general information on the history of Mars, an example of how that history has been determined for one region of the Red Planet and offer updates on recent Mars discoveries made by orbital and landing missions.

The speaker also is director of the Whitworth Ferguson Planetarium at Buffalo State, which will reopen as a state-of-the-arts facility in a few years.

The address is open to the general public and pre-registration is not required. Admission is $4 for the general public and free to members of the Penn Dixie Paleontological and Outdoor Education Center in Hamburg. Call (716) 627-4560 for information and directions.
