Catholic Charities honored participants in its Foster Grandparents program at a luncheon last week, with Caroline Babb named Foster Grandparent of the Year. Babb volunteers through the program at Women & Children’s Hospital.
Also honored were Irine Berry, a volunteer at Enterprise Charter School, for 15 years of service, and Sharon Rochelle from Pinnacle Charter School, who received the Henry Osinski Award.
More than two dozen other foster grandparents were recognized for their service of one, three, five, seven or 10 years.
The Foster Grandparents program recruits Erie County residents who are 55 or older to assist staff with children at various sites in the county, including Head Start programs, Bornhava, Heritage Centers and Buffalo Public Schools and charter schools.
