Headway of Western New York, a not-for-profit agency and an affiliate of People Inc., will host its annual fundraising event with live music “Moonlight on the Green” from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Westwood Country Club, Windows on the Green, 772 North Forest Road, Amherst (corner of North Forest Road and Sheridan Drive). The benefit will assist Headway of WNY to continue support, advocacy and community education programs for individuals with brain injuries and other disabilities. Aspire of Western New York is hosting the iXpress Film Festival from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Screening Room, 3131 Sheridan Drive, Amherst. The festival highlights work from nearly 20 filmmakers with developmental and other disabilities. The screening includes 18 entertaining and socially illuminating films from participants in the iXpress Arts Program. Admission is $5. Camp Happiness, a one-week day camp for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities from Niagara County, will run from June 16 to 20 at Camp Kenan on Lake Ontario. During the five days of camp, participants will experience activities such as hiking, archery, basketball, soccer, fishing, volleyball, music, a rock climbing wall, horticulture projects, campfire time and arts and crafts. Lunch, snacks, prizes and transportation to and from central locations across Niagara County will also be provided. Camp activities will be available and accessible to all participants, and campers will be divided into age and/or ability-appropriate groups.

The Butler Recovery and Treatment Center, an outpatient service of the Buffalo Psychiatric Center, provides mental health services to individuals 18 years old and older. A multidisciplinary approach to treatment is used, providing every client with both a therapist and a psychiatrist. Medicare and Medicaid insurance plans are accepted. Also, clients are accepted on a sliding scale basis, regardless of their ability to pay. Appointments can be made by calling 816-2445.

Clients may also have access to the Elmwood Wellness Center and the Center for Self Discovery, located in the Butler Rehabilitation Center on the main campus of the Buffalo Psychiatric Center, 400 Forest Ave.

Community Services for Developmentally Disabled offers supported employment program to assist in finding a job that is right for any skill level. A trained staff member will accompany job seekers to interviews, help apply for jobs and serve as a personal advocate and guide. Once hired, a job coach provides direct support.
