State police followed a driver headed the wrong way on Transit Road late Wednesday night and charged him with driving while intoxicated.
The incident occurred was about 11:15 p.m. when a trooper saw the car make a left turn from westbound Main Street onto Transit Road, then travel south in the northbound lanes, police said. The trooper turned on his patrol car’s emergency lights and followed the car, which drove over the center median, across the road and over the curb, stopping on the west shoulder of Transit Road.
Frank G. Frainier, 50, of Middleport, appeared to be intoxicated and failed roadside sobriety tests, state police said.
After his arrest, Frainier submitted to a breath sample that indicated his blood-alcohol content was .14, state police said.
Frainier was issued tickets to appear in Clarence Town Court.
