A state audit that was critical of fuel supply management by the town’s Highway and Parks departments will be reviewed at this week’s Town Board work session.
The meeting begins at 9 a.m. Thursday in the board’s conference room at Town Hall, One Town Place.
An audit by the state Comptroller’s Office, covering the period Jan. 1, 2012, to Sept. 18, 2013, found that fuel supplies in the Parks Department weren’t adequately safeguarded and properly accounted for. It also cited the failure of Highway Department officials to review reports to ensure that fuel activity is appropriate and reasonable.
No evidence of inappropriate fuel use was found in either department, however.
