A Clarence man driving in Newstead struck another vehicle while making in an illegal U-turn, according to the Erie County Sheriff’s deputies. He was charged with driving while intoxicated after a breath test show blood alcohol content of .21 percent, nearly three times the legal limit,
Douglas J. McCall, 55, of Main Street Clarence, was making the U-turn at the intersection of Cedar Street and Carney Road around 6 p.m. when he struck another vehicle that was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage but there were no injuries.
McCall was charged with DWI and multiple traffic infractions, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office reported.
McCall was released to a third party on appearance tickets to the Town of Newstead Court at a later date.
