An Enterprise truck rental facility has been proposed for a long-neglected site at Broadway and Dick Road in Cheektowaga.
A public hearing was held Monday night on a request to rezone the property at 3900-3926 Broadway to motor service, from light manufacturing.
“This site has seen better days,” said attorney Peter J. Sorgi, representing J.E.G. Contracting. “This property has a long history of disrepair.”
The site has two metal storage buildings, a long office building previously used as a motel and another storage building behind that. Sorgi said his client purchased the property from Alden State Bank.
According to architect Dave Sutton, most of the northern portion of the long building will be demolished, as will one of the metal storage buildings. Landscaping will screen both the Broadway and Dick Road sides of the property, with access from Broadway left unchanged.
Trucks no longer than 32 feet will be kept on site, Sutton said; there will be no semis. Plans call for a maximum of 16 or so vehicles, he added.
No action was taken Monday night on the rezoning request.
