A 2014 budget that will knock more than $8 off the average annual town tax bill was unanimously adopted Monday night by the Cheektowaga Town Board.

The approximately $86.75 million spending plan reflects an increase in the town’s taxable assessment that was announced at the Oct. 29 public hearing. Brian Krause, the town’s director of administration and finance, said he received updated information showing that number had increased by more than $8 million, or .3 percent.

For an average house assessed at $61,000, the annual town tax bill in 2014 would be $1,647.31, down from this year’s $1,655.63.
