FREDONIA – The Pomfret town code, which applies to subdivisions of land and zoning regulations, was adopted by the Town Board at its regular meeting Wednesday in Town Hall.
The code has been in the review process since 2008 and has had several revisions. A public hearing on the final version was held July 23.
A copy of the new code is available for public review in the town clerk’s office.
In other matters, residents of the Van Buren Bay area asked the Town Board to consider a drainage project to help lessen stormwater flooding that has been happening on Van Buren Bay Drive and some private property. The road is a town roadway.
They provided maps of the areas that have had the most problems with rainwater. The board members agreed to consider the situation and said further information would be needed.
Town Clerk Allison Dispense announced that she received word that Southern Tier West will award the town funding to help with the processing costs of preserving town records through digital recording. She said the amount of the grant has not been finalized.
At the request of the town Recreation Department, the board agreed to consider replacing wood chips on the playgrounds with ground rubber cushioning. Quotes on the project will be expected at the next board meeting.
It was agreed to close Town Hall on Aug. 22 due to Fredonia Farm Festival activities.
