SILVER CREEK – The Hanover Town Board will be inviting residents of the sewer district to an open house at the wastewater treatment plant.
Invitations will be sent with the Aug. 20 bill. Town Supervisor Todd Johnson announced Monday, at the regular meeting of the Town Board, that a date at the end of the month would be selected for the open house event.
He said he will encourage residents of the district to visit the 33-year-old facility, which is located in Irving, and to see for themselves the condition of equipment and the property.
The town had been looking to apply for funding to replace equipment and do some maintenance at the site.
Earlier this summer at a public hearing, several residents said they did not think financing more than $5 million in repairs was prudent.
Also at the meeting:
• The Town Board accepted the resignation of Larry Lazarczyk, a highway department employee, for retirement.
• Highway Superintendent Steve D’Angelo was given permission to advertise for the purchase of two tandem axle dump trucks.
