FREDONIA – Several bond resolutions were before trustees in the village of Fredonia Monday at the regular meeting held in the village hall.
A resolution for $160,000 for the purchase of “various” trucks for the Department of Public Works passed by a 3-1 margin. Trustee Marc Ruckman voted against the measure. He said specifics about the trucks were not provided. Trustee Susan Mackay was absent from the meeting.
After consulting with Village Attorney Sam Drayo, trustees learned that three of five votes were needed to authorize the spending.
All four trustees who were present voted for the issuance of $75,000 in serial bonds for the construction of a roof at the wastewater treatment plant.
Also at Monday’s meeting:
• The four trustees approved $70,000 in serial bonds for the replacement of valves and reconstruction of the roof at the water treatment plant.
• The trustees unanimously approved a resolution to participate in a program with Chautauqua County to help identify and remove blight. The program would allow the village to dispose of housing materials at the landfill without paying tipping fees. It also provides assistance through the county’s land bank program to sell properties to adjacent owners.
• The Music Industry Club received permission to use the Barker Common Park areas for a festival on Saturday April 12 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
• A request from Mary Butcher, secretary for the First United Methodist Church, to use the West Barker Common area on April 20 for a sunrise service was granted.
