MAYVILLE – A 20-year-old Erie, Pa. man allegedly high on drugs, was arrested by Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies after stop strips they set up on Route 5 just outside the Town of Portland deflated the tires of his car and ended the high-speed chase that began in Pennsylvania about 10:22 p.m. Thursday.

Justin A. Baker was charged with two counts of third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle for ignoring requests from both Pennsylvania State Police and Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies.

He also was charged with resisting arrest, two counts of reckless driving, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, driving while ability impaired by drugs, and multiple vehicle and traffic infractions.

Westfield police, New York State troopers and Pennsylvania State police assisted in the arrest.

Baker was remanded to the Chautauqua County jail in lieu of $10,000 bail after his arraignment in Westfield Town Court.
