MAYVILLE – Three general election races that were too close to call, including two seats on the Jamestown City Council, are expected be decided next week. The Chautauqua County Board of Elections has announced that it will count absentee and affidavit ballots in those races on Monday afternoon.
In an unofficial tally in Jamestown’s Ward I, Republican Brent Sheldon leads Democrat Tara Hall, 328-300. In Ward III, Republican Tamara Dickey leads Democrat Regina Brackman by only three votes, 208-205. Democrats won five of the other seven seats on the council on Nov. 5.
The other count will decide the race for highway superintendent in the Town of Gerry, where challenger Brian Anderson is leading incumbent Mark Risley, 300-293.
