A minivan struck an Amish horse and buggy and took off after the collision injured the buggy’s occupants and the horse, State Police said.
Olean-based troopers were looking for the operator of a dark blue Chrysler minivan, which hit the vehicle on State Route 16 in the Town of Ischua in Cattaraugus County shortly after 3:40 p.m. Monday.
The horse and buggy, which was driving on the far right shoulder of the road, was hit from behind, and the impact of the collision sent the horse and buggy into a ditch.
The buggy operator and two sons suffered cuts to their scalps. They were transported by Hinsdale ambulance to Olean General Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The horse sustained cuts as well as probably internal injuries but was able to walk. It was transported by trailer back to the owner’s home along with the demolished buggy.
