LITTLE VALLEY – A Little Valley man suffered a serious leg injury when he lost control of his motorcycle when a deer jumped in front of him shortly after 10 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Dutch Hill and Pigeon Valley roads, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Harry J. Blauvelt, 67, of the 9000 block of Dutch Hill Road, was pinned under a guardrail when deputies arrived.

Blauvelt was traveling west on Dutch Hill when the deer jumped in front of his 2006 Suzuki, causing him to lose control and slide through the intersection.

After the Little Valley Fire Department removed Blauvelt from underneath the guardrail, a StarFlight helicopter transported him to Erie County Medical Center.

He was being treated this morning.
