LITTLE VALLEY – Human remains thought to be those of a female were pulled from Cattaraugus Creek on Tuesday in the Town of Perrysburg.
State Police said an autopsy would be conducted by the Erie County Medical Examiner’s office in Buffalo.
The remains were found after the Seneca Nation Marshall’s Office notified state police of possible remains in the creek. Uniformed state troopers and investigators from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation descended into the gorge and confirmed that the remains were human.
The State Police SCUBA and Aviation units were called to remove the body from the fast-moving creek. Assisting were the State Police Forensics Identification Unit and the Cattaraugus County Coroner.
