LITTLE VALLEY – Sandra L. McAndrew, a former town clerk of the Cattaraugus County Town of Carrollton, has been indicted on charges of grand larceny and official misconduct for alleged criminal activity while she was in office, District Attorney Lori Pettit Rieman said Wednesday.

As a result of a grand jury indictment, McAndrew, 56, of Limestone, pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned Monday before County Judge Ronald D. Ploetz.

The grand jury action, based on a State Comptroller’s Office audit of the town’s finances, accuses McAndrew of the “unauthorized” theft of more than $1,000 in government property. The public document in the case does not disclose whether McAndrew is accused of stealing government funds or property or both.

The grand jury indictment accuses her of criminal misconduct in office from Jan. 1, 2006 through Dec. 31, 2011.

No telephone number could be found for Mc Andrew, who is free pending further court proceedings. The district attorney and her staff would not comment further on the matter.
