A car drove under a tractor-trailer around 10 p.m. Tuesday on the northbound Niagara Thruway on Grand Island, injuring the vehicle’s driver and two passengers.
“The car was driving behind the tractor-trailer in the left lane and the car attempted to change to the right lane and abruptly pulled back to the left lane,” said State Police Sgt. Joseph Dougherty. “Traffic was slowing and she couldn’t stop and ran up the back end of the tractor-trailer.”
The woman driver, a male passenger and a 6-year-old boy were taken to Erie County Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The driver suffered a broken arm. The man, who was sitting in the front passenger’s seat, had bruising, and the boy had injuries from his seat belt.
Names of the injured occupants were not released.
I-190 North was closed for about an hour, police said.
