Service employees requesting wage increases in negotiations with Canisius College administrators rallied Wednesday afternoon in front of the college library, saying their wages have lagged behind inflation, while pay for the college’s top administrators has gone up.

A spokeswoman for the Services Employees International Union Local 200 said negotiations have stalled on a new contract for the nearly 70 members of the bargaining unit. The unit represents groundskeepers, housekeepers, mailroom, skilled and general workers.

Canisius issued a statement from Marco F. Benedetti, vice president for business and finance, saying the college was not in a financial position to increase wages, but will continue to bargain in good faith.
