Shortly after Assemblyman Dennis Gabryszak resigned following accusations of sexual harassment from seven women who worked for him, Common Council President Darius G. Pridgen is instituting sexual harassment training for Council members.
Pridgen submitted a resolution calling for the city’s Department of Human Resources to provide the Common Council and its supervisors with sexual harassment prevention training no later than Feb. 28.
Pridgen is also calling for training for new Council members. Pridgen’s resolution calls for the Council president or the president’s representative to provide orientation for new city lawmakers within three days of when they begin their Council duties. The training will cover Human Resources policies, Council procedures, the city charter, sexual harassment prevention, and discretionary fund rules.
The resolutions could be adopted when the Council meets in regular session at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers.
