The Common Council will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers and will vote on whether to allow a pair of outdoor ice rinks and entertainment complex to be built on Kelly Island.

South Council Member Christopher P. Scanlon, who represents the area, has said he is concerned about the safety of visitors to the Buffalo RiverWorks site, now in development, and the safety of people who work at the industrial plants along Ganson Street.

Developers of RiverWorks, which is planning to host the Labatt Blue Pond Hockey Tournament on Feb. 21 and 22, are trying to respond to concerns expressed by Scanlon and the city’s Public Works Department.

A vote in RiverWorks’ favor would allow construction on the rinks to resume.
