A 44-year-old West Tupper Street man was arrested on felony drug charges and for allegedly trying to sell untaxed cigarettes at Main and Court streets about 12:50 p.m. Tuesday.

Darrell Elliott was arrested after police reportedly smelled marijuana on him when they went to question him about his apparent efforts to sell untaxed packs of cigarettes.

Elliott was charged with a felony count of criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of controlled substance outside their original container, unlawful possession of marijuana and a tax law charge of having untaxed cigarettes. Officers said they seized from him 16 packs of untaxed cigarettes, 15 bags of marijuana and 17 bags of unidentified pills suspected of being narcotics.
