The City of Buffalo and GObike Buffalo will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. today at DIG (Design Innovation Garage), 640 Ellicott St., to launch an update of the city’s Bicycle Facility Master Plan and seek public input on how to make the city more bike friendly.
The city and GObike Buffalo hope to form a plan for new paths, bike lanes, cycle tracks and neighborhood greenways that connect throughout the city. A planning team is being led by Alta Planning + Design.
“Investing in bicycling infrastructure is inexpensive yet yields a large return that makes our streets safe and builds a quality of life that adds to the economic strength of our city,” Mayor Byron W. Brown said.
Following the 2012 U.S. Census, the League of American Bicyclists ranked Buffalo 14th among cities with the most bicycle commuters.
