A 23-year-old Glenwood Avenue man was charged with a felony drug count for allegedly having drugs wrapped up and ready for sale after he was caught in a brief foot race late Saturday.

Mathew Martin was arrested in a yard in the 600 block of Northland Avenue about 11:30 p.m. after he fled when police pulled over his apparently damaged car for a routine traffic check in the 400 block of Olympic Avenue moments earlier.

Martin was charged with a felony count of criminal possession of a controlled substance after officers reported finding the packaged narcotics. He was also charged with criminal possession of marijuana, aggravated unlicensed driving, having an improperly equipped vehicle and obstructing governmental administration. Officers also reported finding and seizing from his vehicle $266 cash.
