Bridge maintenance work will affect access to Route 5 over the Buffalo Skyway from about 7 a.m. to about 5 p.m. Saturday, the state Department of Transportation announced Thursday.
Because of the Skyway work, Route 5 eastbound (inbound to Buffalo) traffic will be reduced to one lane in the vicinity of the Niagara Thruway. The Route 5 eastbound ramp to the northbound Niagara Thruway and the off ramp to Pearl Street will be closed.
A posted detour will direct traffic around the affected ramps.
The work is weather-sensitive and may be delayed in the event of inclement weather Saturday.
Officials reminded motorists that fines are doubled for speeding in work zones, and convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
