Someone has been stealing snowblowers from the garages of Buffalo homes at a time of the year when people really need them.
Six such thefts occurred over the weekend and were reported to Buffalo Police on Sunday.
Five of the incidents occurred in South Buffalo, including two on Ashton Place, and one each on Marilla Street, Folger Street and Densmore Street.
The sixth snowblower burglary was on Crestwood Avenue in North Buffalo. In several of the cases, other items were stolen, including a generator and some power tools, police said.
Police urge residents – not only in the city, but elsewhere – to lock their garages. But in at least one of the incidents, officers reported that the bandits pried open a locked garage door.
