The Valley Community Association’s 14th Annual Buffalo River Fest this weekend will be held in River Fest Park on Ohio Street after all, Margaret “Peg” Overdorf, the association’s executive director, reports.
Organizers planned to move the festival because of the $11.3 million Ohio Street reconstruction project, but in the past few days city officials and the contractor have provided access to the park, she says. Boats entered in the Rigidized Metals River Regatta at 11 a.m. Saturday will be able to use the park.
“They put up a very sturdy construction fence all along the sidewalks,” Overdorf notes. “They have leveled the road surface. All the construction equipment is out of the way.”
The festival opens at 6 p.m. today and continues to midnight. Hours are 11 a.m. to midnight Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Featured tonight is the band Strictly Hip. The Strangers and Hit & Run will play Saturday. For more information, visit www.thevalleycenter.com.
