The project to return cars and trucks to Main Street in downtown Buffalo will take Metro Rail trains off the street most of Saturday and all day Sunday.
The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority reports that construction activity will close the above-ground portion of the line both days. It will reopen for single-track service Saturday evening only, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
While the track is closed, shuttle buses every 15 minutes will serve passengers traveling between the Allen Medical Campus station and the Erie Canal Harbor station. Inbound buses will use Pearl Street, stopping a block away from the Metro Rail stations on Main Street, while outbound buses will follow Washington Street.
