Buffalo police are searching for the gunman who shot a man at 184 Carl Street and started a fire on the first floor of that 1½ story frame house at about 10 p.m. When fire crews arrived at the scene, they saw the wounded man laying on the grass at the front of the house. The victim, before being taken by ambulance to ECMC, told fire crews and police he was shot in an upper floor bedroom and lock in there as the gunman went down stairs and started a fire before fleeing. Buffalo firefighters had the fire out by about 10:45 p.m. and continue to investigate the actual cause of the fire. Buffalo police did not release the identify of the victim and did not comment on whether the victim told them the name of the gunman.
