A 21-year-old Hopkins Street man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly pointed a .45 caliber handgun at police when they stopped to question him near his home.

Alexander Lozada was tackled by one of the officers and a black handgun was seized from him in the 600 block of Hopkins about 6:45 p.m. Lozada was charged with a felony count of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.

He was also charged with obstructing governmental administration because when officers saw him and a friend walking fast near his home, they stopped them and Lozada allegedly pulled out the handgun and pointed it at the officers. The handgun was seized by the officers.
