The Buffalo Bills today joined those lauding heroic bus driver Darnell J. Barton, making him a guest at today’s game after a locker-room greeting from head coach Doug Marrone and Russ Brandon, president and chief executive officer.

Barton was invited into the locker room before today’s encounter with the Kansas City Chiefs, where Bills officials and players added their thanks to those from around Western New York and the nation.

The plaudits continue to roll in after Barton stopped his Metro bus last week and rescued a distraught woman who had been threatening to jump to her death from a Scajaquada Expressway overpass.

The woman had been ignored by others who passed the scene, but Barton – recalling his own thoughts of severe depression years earlier – stopped his bus, climbed up the overpass and pulled the woman to safety.

Though he doesn’t consider himself a hero, the act earned him stories in newspapers around the country,an appearance on NBC’s “Today Show” and offers of monetary rewards.
