The Buffalo Science & Art Cabaret opens its fifth season at 7 p.m. next Wednesday in the Ninth Ward at Babeville, 341 Delaware Ave., with a discussion of how the theme of memory relates to fields from physics to photography. It’s free and open to the public.

Speakers include series co-founder Will Kenney, an associate professor of physics at the University at Buffalo; photographer Douglas Levere, who will talk about his book project, “New York Changing”; UB Physics Department chairman Hong Luo; and Laurence Shine from the English faculty at SUNY Buffalo State. The cabaret series, which includes four more events in 2013-14, is a collaboration by the UB College of Arts and Sciences, Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center and the Buffalo Museum of Science.
