Family and friends of William C. Sager Jr. plan to join local service members today, the start of the Memorial Day weekend, to show support for the victim of the May 11 assault at Molly’s Pub in Buffalo.
The ceremony, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at Buffalo & Erie County Naval and Military Park, will offer prayers and expressions of support for Sager’s recovery.
Sager, 28, an Air National Guard technical sergeant who served as a crew chief at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, was assaulted and critically injured during the incident at Molly’s in the city’s University Heights section.
Among those scheduled to attend are Sager’s fiancée, Erika L. Webster; his father, William C. Sager Sr.; and fellow service members.
Sager’s family will also announce the formation of a charitable trust that has been established in his name.
In case of rain, the ceremony will be held at the gazebo adjacent to boardwalk at the Naval and Military Park.
