An Edison Street man was charged Thursday with second-degree vehicular manslaughter for a fatal accident involving a pedestrian that occurred Nov. 5 on the 1000 block of East Ferry Street, according to Lt. Thomas J. Leatherbarrow, commander of the Buffalo Police Department Accident Investigation Unit.

Toxicology results determined that Alfred Long Jr., 28, was driving a relative’s car while his ability was impaired by the use of drugs, which he has also been charged with, according to an investigation conducted by Accident Investigators Martin Forero and Keith LaFalce, along with officials from the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.

The victim, Sallie Davis, 64, of Donovan Drive, was taken to Erie County Medical Center in critical condition and she died Monday from blunt force trauma to the head.
