Block clubs and other organizations in Buffalo have until 5 p.m. Friday to order trees for spring planting through Re-Tree WNY to replace those lost in the October 2006 surprise snowstorm.

Organizations can request trees by visiting and clicking on the “Calendar” section for the link to apply for trees. Planting will take place Nov. 9, with 400 trees available.

Re-Tree WNY also is welcoming volunteers to help in other plantings it is coordinating Oct. 26 at Daemen College in Snyder, Nov. 1 and 2 in Forest Lawn and Nov. 9 in Buffalo’s Old First Ward. For information, visit the Re-Tree WNY calendar page or contact Re-Tree Chairman Paul D. Maurer at 553-4061.
